I have been gardening organically, year round in the desert since 1983. I did not have the benefit of the internet until about 5 years ago. So I have learned alot through trial, and error. I have kept detailed records so that I can look back, and see what has worked, and what has not.
Over that time, in different homes (as a single mom), I have kept rabbits, chickens and goats. Like many other people, I dreamed of my someday farm. For over 30 years I did the most with whatever I had. I grew 800 sq ft of year round organic veggie garden, and some fruit trees. I ate fresh, I canned, I dehydrated, I gleaned, and I bartered in a manner that made the most of what my backyard, and community had to offer. I have lived in places where I could keep livestock, and some places where I could not. When I could keep them, I learned a lot and have shared that information here for you.
I am now married to Steve, and we are empty nesters. Between us we have 7 adult children. He is truly my hero. He does his best to make my dreams come true. We each sold our home and together we bought a beautiful old house on 1.33 acres of flood irrigated property.
Steve is a city boy at heart. He prefers flowers and ornamentals to vegetables and fruit trees. Come along and join the fun while we combine my love of tending livestock and growing food, with his love of creating a beautiful landscape. This used to be my deal but now together, Steve and I will I continue to Share Life’s Abundance.
